Marilyn Anderson is an author, screenwriter, speaker and all around entertaining person with a lot of diverse interests.

I didn’t have a choice … my creative career chose me!

Just to let you know, I wasn’t always a writer.  I have graduate degrees in Biology & Physiology and worked as a Biomedical Information Specialist at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. Then, one day I said, “I don’t want to be a scientist, I want to be a star!” So, I quit my job, sold my furniture, sold my car, sold my boyfriend (didn’t get much for him) and moved to New York City to become a star. I got into a Broadway show just a week later – woohoo! Sadly, it only lasted 8 performances. Not because I wasn’t wonderful – it was just a sucky show!

After acting and doing stand-up at The Comic Strip in NY – I decided I either needed to take a vacation or get a job.  Let’s see, vacation or job? No contest!  I took a vacay to Los Angeles and never went back.

In LA, I sold my very first screenplay, got into the Writer’s Guild, and then wrote for numerous TV series and films.  One of my movies, Making Mr. Right was on Lifetime TV, and my comedy family feature, How to Beat a Bully, can be viewed on Amazon Prime, iTunes, IMDB, Tubi and lots of other platforms.

I also started writing books.  My first was the humorous relationship  book, Never Kiss a Frog: A Girl’s Guide to Creatures from the Dating SwampYep, I’m the world’s only Frogologist – expert in the study of the human frog!  Never Kiss a Frog was published in 10 countries – and I’m working on a new updated version for 2023. Oh, and on TV, I was theDating, Flirting & Kissing Coach for ABC’s Extreme Makeover!  What fun!

I’m also a money-saving specialist and author of How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You’re a Million Short. My top travel tip: How to spend 6 nights at a 4-star resort in Spain… for FREE!  (Ask me how… or get the book!)  My other books include one that my sweet pooch, Boomer, dogtated to me – MUTTweiler: An AutoDOGography.  I also co-authored a mystery-thriller novel, Dishonor Thy Father that has gotten incredible reviews.  We’re hoping it will be made into a series for TV!  In addition, two plays I wrote were produced in Los Angeles.

I’m a busy gal – with two new movies scheduled to go into production soon – COLD FEET, a romantic comedy about a wedding, and FAREWELL TOUR – a thriller with music.

Currently, I’m working on a number of new projects – movies, TV series, books, and another play.

In my spare time (LOL, you ask, when?!) – I’ve written hundreds of Entertainment & Travel articles in Splash Magazines Worldwide, Agenda Magazine, and other media outlets. Some of my humor pieces have appeared in the LA Times, Jewish Journal, and other newspapers.

What else would you like to know?  I’ve been a guest on over 500 radio shows and podcasts and have appeared on numerous TV shows, too.  I love being a speaker for all kinds of groups, and even created a one-woman show, How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You’re a Million Short.  It’s such fun giving audiences tons of great information and lots of laughs, too.

Hoping I will have the chance to meet you one of these days – either virtually or in person.
