Marilyn’s newest venture is as writer-producer of an Adult Animated Comedy Series – “NIGHTMARE ON ESTROGEN STREET.” The pilot for the series just went into production in July 2026. Look for it on a streaming platform before the end of the year!
Ms. Anderson is writer-producer of the family comedy, “How to Beat a Bully,” and co-writer of the romantic comedy, “Making Mr. Right” on Lifetime TV. Her new rom com feature, “Cold Feet,” is scheduled for production in 2027. She also has an exciting feature screenplay ready-to-go: “Farewell Tour” – a thriller with an ensemble of 18-30-year-olds and a music element. In addition, she wrote a number of comedy screenplays that are available: “The Weekenders”; “So, Long, Goodbye, Hello”; and “The Bachelor Bet.”
Marilyn has written for a number of television series, including Murphy Brown, FAME, Friday the 13th – the Series, and Sherman Oaks, and she was on the writing staff of Carol & Company, starring Carol Burnett, Jeremy Piven, and Richard Kind. Several of her scripts have won awards – she received a LUMINAS Award from the organization Women in Film for the Positive Depiction of Women in Film & TV, and she was honored by the WGA as writer of one of the 101 Best Written TV Shows of the past seven decades.
Marilyn wrote the Amazon bestseller, “How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You’re a Million Short.” It was featured in Forbes and USA Weekly and won an award as the Best Book on Saving Money & Living Well of the Year. Every year, Marilyn does her popular one-woman show, based on the book at the Santa Monica Playhouse Binge Fringe Festival. Her show, “How to Live Like a MILLIONAIRE When You’re a Million Short” has been the fan favorite 11 seasons in a row!
Marilyn’s humorous relationship book, “NEVER KISS A FROG: A Girl’s Guide to Creatures from the Dating Swamp” is published in 10 countries. With her dog Boomer, she co-authored “MUTTweiler: An AutoDOGography.” She also co-authored a multicultural mystery-thriller, “Dishonor Thy Father” using the pen name M.J. Richards.
Ms. Anderson is also an accomplished playwright. Her two full-length plays are “As Good as Gold – A Comedy about Gender Parity and Women in Hollywood,” and “Not Tonight, Vito!” a hilarious piece about mob wives. She has written several short plays as well. In addition, Marilyn is a screenwriting consultant and was a judge for over 15 years for the most important screenwriting contest in the world.
Ms. Anderson has written humorous essays and travel & entertainment articles for various newspapers and magazines and has been featured as a guest on over 500 radio shows, podcasts, and TV shows. She is also an actress and host, and was the Dating, Flirting & Kissing Coach on TV’s “Extreme Makeover.”
